The Book of Enoch: A Cross-Reference Exegesis of the Holy Bible
Published in Hardcover by Winston-Derek Pub (September, 1996)
Author: Ronald K. Brown
Average review score:

An interesting summary on a little known prophet
I am a personal friend of Rev. Brown. I have worked with him for almost 15 years. I remember him doing his research for almost ten of those years. No doubt this is probably the most up-to-date work on Enoch and whenever Ron and I talked about it he would tell me about some of the more interesting bits of information contained within. It is an exciting revelation about a little known prophet whom God first revealed the mysteries of the universe and creation to. I truly believe this will enlighten those who wish to know more about our Biblical and cultural history. I guess what surprised me the most was to find that Enoch was black...and one of the first prophets of the Bible. Truly amazing!

A Must for Every Actor!
You won't believe how much information is packed within 290 pages. I am not an actor, but after reading The Book I certainly have no doubts on how to get started, and I would be able to do so with confidence. The Book details how to relocate to Chicago, find trainers, coaches, photographers, write a resume, get an agent, cut a demo tape, join the union, break into theater or improv, and run a small theater company. Tons and tons and even tons of resources!

The writing is enjoyable to read, enthusiastic...and humorous!...

The Books of American Negro Spirituals: Including the Book of American Negro Spirituals and the Second Book of Negro Spirituals (Da Capo Paperback)
Published in Paperback by DaCapo Press (April, 1988)
Authors: James Weldon Johnson, J.R. Johnson, Lawrence Brown, and Rosamond Johnson
Average review score:

Outstanding transcriptions of traditional music
This book stays true to aural tradition and offers outstanding, non-Westernized arrangements of the aural traditional music of African American spirituals.

The choice of using phonetic spellings for the lyrics means that the lyrics are heavy in the use of words like "dese", "dose", "Heab'n", etc. However, given the original publication being in the 1920's, and the author's comments in the introduction, it is apparent that the spellings are not the result of gross cultural insensitivity.

The respect for, and love of this fine music comes through in the author's comments. And the transcriptions retain the strong harmonic features that are often "arranged out" of collections of aural traditional music.

It is a fine collection, and an absolute steal at the price.

Born Free: How to Find Radical Freedom and Infectious Joy in an Authentic Faith
Published in Hardcover by Ravens Ridge Books (January, 1994)
Authors: Steve Brown and Stephen W. Brown
Average review score:

Radical Grace
This is Steve Brown as his best. I would consider this a "Theological Work," but this is certainly a page turner! It is not heavy and difficult. Steve communicates very clearly the Biblical concept of the Grace of God. This book helped me to see that I don't need to live in bondage to my sin, and I don't need to feel guilty anymore. This is one of the greatest books I have ever read, and if you can get your hands on it, READ IT!

The life of Sheryl Swoopes
This is a good book if you are considering doing a report about Sheryl Swoopes. She always wanted to be a cheerleader, but her family didn't have the money. She learned to play basketball by watching her brother play in the yard and at basketball games. At 7 she played for the Little Dribblers. She played through high school and college and eventually for the Olympics. They won the gold medal in 1996. Sheryl's high school career average was 26 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.

The Brannocks (Brannocks, American West, Book 1)
Published in Paperback by New American Library (May, 1986)
Authors: Matt Braun and Matt Brown
Average review score:

BRAUN PLUS BRANNOCKS=GOOD STUFF!!
What a great Western. I have read other books by Matt Braun but I think this is the best one I have read. Earl Brannock is in Denver, he is a professional grambler. Virgil Brannock shows us next and becomes a very good business man. Clint Brannock is the last one to arrive. He was always the wild one. He is hired by the city as a Marshall. Clint is looking for Jack Quintin who killed the Brannock boys parents. He also finally show up in Denver and is hired to kill the three boys. A very good Western book. Lots of action, a good ending. I hope Braun writes about these three again. The way the book ended it is wide open for it. If you like books about the old west you will really like this one.

Brave new world, 1984, and We : an essay on Anti-Utopia : (Zamyatin and English literature)
Published in Unknown Binding by Ardis ()
Author: Edward James Brown
Average review score:

We Rocks
A predecessor to 1984 (the most awesome book in existence), it also deals with a vision of a dystopia far in the future. Zamyatin depicts a controllist state governed by something as impermeable as mathematics. No emotion is involved and the soul is seen as a disease. Although the situation is much more dispairing than the one shown in 1984, it also offers some hope as one still gets the impression of a resistance outside the green wall. Despite the "numbers" being completely brainwashed, the One State is a society on the brink of collapse. The Guardians are ultra paranoid of any abnormal activity, spying on the citizens more than normal. The book is written in the form of a journal addressed to the people of another planet. It justifies the One State and is an attempt to socialize the other planet's people before a possible invasion by men.

Breakthrough Customer Service : Best Practices of Leaders in Customer Support
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (February, 1998)
Author: Stanley A. Brown
Average review score:

An excellent guide to excellence in customer service
This book departs from the standard practice of empty rhetoric penned by starry-eyed academians. In THIS book, we see what real people do for real success.

I was able to formulate my own plan for success, by looking at what these people do. This vicarious learning is the best approach for such a subject matter, and it has become a competitive advantage for my company.
